This has been one of the best series of books I have ever read since Harry Potter, Eli Monpress being just himself at the end not only serves the series well but leaves the door open for hopefully another series.

I have read all of the Eli Monpress book and I could not wait to get my hands on the last one. The book was all right, but not at all what I expected. The charm of Eli was lost for me. It was the strangest ending I hav ever red, and actually not even an ending. From the way it was done you would expect more Eli Monpress books. The thind that annoyed me most was the the characters were the same old themselves. No changing, no growing, nothing. You were never suprised, but at the end. Still like the series. -) I can't even explain why.
Sensational. Loved this series!
This final(?) book took some time to get into as Rachel Aaron pulled together a number of threads and I suspect had to be ruthless with some story lines. Some of the characters relations were tentative and required some suspension of belief, while others were more interesting and believable. I found her characterisation of darker characters better. Eli started to annoy, as did Miranda. The Lord of Storms and the Demon and their dark uncompromising narrative was captivating. A nice distraction at the end of a busy day.
Rachel Aaron neatly draws things together, in each of the two novels in this omnibus, and continues to develop her character and plots twist in an entertaining way. Her writing has an energy that will appeal to fans of this genre.
Loved Eli, Miranda, the spirits, this whole world. Different from what I have read lately. Loved the audiobooks especially.
If you thought the first books in this series were action packed, wait till you get to these ones... Block out your calendar and be ready for an epic page turner!
As an avid reader of fantasy all of my life, I always enjoy books with interesting new ways of representing the workings of magic. The Eli Monpress series has fabulous concepts, likeable characters, and a largely unpredictable plot.
